DANDRIDGE — Seymour started Thursday night's contest at Jefferson County in the district semifinals on a strong note, taking a 9-2 lead initially, but injuries prevented them from sustaining the lead and beating the Lady Patriots.

Star guard Maci Pinter went down with an injury in the first quarter along with Emma Watson, and Jefferson County came back to win 53-46.

The Lady Eagles led 15-8 after one quarter, but they went cold to start the second quarter, and Jefferson County cut into their lead making the score 24-22 at the half still in favor of Seymour.

The second half was a different story as Jefferson County knocked down several triples and led 36-31 after three quarters.

After hitting 17 3-pointers in their opening game of the Class AAA District 2 tournament on Monday night, the Lady Eagles only hit three.

Katelyn Waggoner and Emily Russell led the way for Seymour with 12 points each, while Caiden Russell and Brielle Turner scored seven a piece.

The Lady Eagles will host the district's third place game at 6 p.m. Saturday against Morristown West.
