Ty Pryor and Alex Norton combined for 37 points to lead the Rockwood Tigers to a 53-36 victory over the Unaka Rangers in the Harriman Christmas Tournament last Friday morning.
Pryor also had eight rebounds and four assists, while Norton hauled down six rebounds.
Mason Wilson led the Rangers with 17 points
Pryor scored eight first quarter points, as the Tigers led 14-7 after one quarter, hitting 6-of-11 from the field and holding Unaka to 3-of-13 from the floor with four turnovers.
Gerald Hannibal, Landon Watts, Pryor, Dryston Turner and North controlled the boards while Watts and Hannibal each had steals.
Rockwood’s offense hit 5-of-13 from the field in the second quarter for a 26-14 halftime advantage, while holding Unaka to 3-of-7 from the floor with one turnover.
Again Jayden Davidson, Norton, Bentley Willis and Pryor controlled the boards, while Pryor had a steal.
The Tigers stretched the lead to 33-19 with 2:33 left in the third quarter, but the teams finished with points after that. The Tigers nailed 4-of-6 free throws, including 3-of-4 by Norton.
A layup by Hannibal on an assist from Turner swelled the lead to 49-27 midway in the fourth quarter, but Unaka outscored RHS 9-4 for the final score of 53-36.
Rockwood was 19-of-46 from the field and 12-of-18 from the charity stripe with 12 turnovers. The Tiger defense recorded eight steals and six assists.

The Rockwood Junior Varsity’s second half rally came off one point short, as they rallied from an 11-point deficit Thursday morning in the Harriman Christmas Tournament to lose 40-39.
The Tigers trailed 11-7 after one quarter, hitting 3-of-10 from the field with two turnovers. Colton Abston had three points for RHS.
Harriman opened the second half with a 7-0 run for an 18-7 advantage, but Gabriel Sidwell scored four points in a 6-0 run to slice the deficit to 18-13 at the break. He had three rebounds in the second quarter.
The Blue Devils stretched their advantage to 34-19 in the third quarter. but the Tigers finished the frame with a 4-0 spurt to slice the deficit to 34-23. Jayden Davidson had six points for the Tigers, while Abston had two rebounds.
Harriman would stretch lead to 40-27 in the fourth quarter, but Abston buried two free throws to trigger an 11-0 run to slice the score to 40-38. Davidson hit the first of two free throws to make the score 40-39 with 1.3 seconds left, but a game-winning basket failed at the buzzer.
