The Rockwood City Council met and approved several agenda items on Monday.
The first among the agenda items was the opening and consideration of 5 different bids to replace the roof at the Rockwood Golf and Country Club. The council agreed to select the lowest bid from Bryan Treadway at $15,135 should the bid meet the specs.
Next was a resolution accepting the Library Board’s recommendation of hiring Stacy Nelson to as the new Library Director as the previous director, Margaret Marrs, is retiring.
The council then voted to rescind the reappointment of Kathleen McKinney and Anita Moore to the Rockwood Library Board from the previous month’s meeting, as the two had already overstayed their term limits. Following this, Tabatha Watts and RSCC professor Melanie Hildebrandt were assigned to the Library Board for a term of Nov. 29, 2022 through Nov. 19, 2025.
Next was the authorizing of a refund of $500.00 to William R. Wright, Jr due to an agreement on a property lien.
Other business included hiring two Public Works Employees due to one member’s retirement and another’s leaving, approving the finalized American Rescue Plan Act funding for the Rockwood Water & Sewer Project as part of the new Rockwood Marina construction, the purchasing of in-car laptops for Rockwood police cars, and the declaration of surplus items for the Rockwood Police Department.
Items on the surplus include various hand tools from state vehicle seizures; personal property items including pocket knives, lighters, clothing, jewelry, baggage, coins, and bicycles; tires and wheels no longer used due to newer vehicles in the police department; two government issued 6x6 ATVs; one Ford Crown Victoria; one old abandoned riding mower; a 2003 PT cruiser from a drug seizure; a 2005 Jeep Liberty from a drug seizure; and one jet ski complete with trailer, also from a drug seizure.
The council and mayor wrapped up the meeting with some announcements. Rockwood 2000’s Lighting of the Tree Festivities kick off Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4 p.m., and Rockwood’s Christmas Parade takes place Monday, Dec. 5, with line up at 6 p.m. and parade at 7 p.m.
