Virgil Dell Finchum, age 84, of Sevierville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021. He was a member of Jones Chapel Baptist Church and retired from Dan Rivers. Known as “Daddy” and “Papaw”, he loved his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren fiercely. He loved to work on the farm, especially gardening and many precious memories were made breaking beans.
Waiting for Virgil in Heaven is his wife of 57 years, Blanche. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Eva Finchum; brother, Kenneth Finchum and wife Mary; and sons-in-law Donnie Holbert and Mike Jessie.
Virgil leaves behind his beloved family and friends. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Mike West, Faye and Jerry Parton, and Ellen and Harold Ramsey; his grandchildren, Dawn and Larry Loveday, David and Jennifer Jessie, Marcus and Courtney Parton, Clayton Ramsey, Dawn Ball, Amber Ramsey, as well as great-grandchildren Leah and Allyson Loveday, Daxton and Elly Parton, Cody Ball, Jarrett Ball, Patrick Ball and Conner Ramsey. In addition, he is survived by his special sister, Mary Arwood; brother-in-law, Tom Maples; sister-in-law, Ina Wright; several nieces and nephews and his breakfast buddies at Chamber’s Market.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at LeConte Medical Center Emergency Room and UT Medical Center Comfort Care Unit.
