Russell A. Plamann Sr., age 88, of Seymour, Tennessee passed away Friday, Feb. 19, 2021.
He grew up as a young boy in Wisconsin on a farm. Russell served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was employed at Flamingo Products as the plant manager for quite a few years. Later in life Russell moved to Tennessee and worked at Dollywood and Christmas Place. He retired and then opened his own construction business, Liberty Builders, which he sold several years later. Russell loved building “whirley birds” in his shed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Plamann and Mable Blink.
His survivors include his wife, Shirley Johnson Plamann; sons, Rusty Plamann Jr. and Sue Allen, Tim Plamann and wife Pam, and Scott Plamann; stepchildren, Diane Woodward and husband Jack, Rick Lee and wife Diane, Marty Lee, and Brenda Garner; and many much loved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His favorite saying was, “Hang in There.” Russell loved to B-B-Q for family and friends at gatherings and he will be missed tremendously. He made a great impact on everyone in our family.
Funeral service 7 p.m. Wednesday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Pastor Bruce Yates officiating. Entombment 11 a.m. Thursday at Highland South Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 104. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour. Per county mandate, face coverings will be required and social distancing observed.
