Harold Russell Thompson, age 64, of Sevierville, Tennessee was called to his eternal home on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021 surrounded by his family and friends after a brief fight with cancer.
Harold was born on March 20, 1956 at a military base in La Rochelle, France to the late Richard and Lillian (Puckett) Thompson.
He joined the United States Army after high school and fought for his county serving in the Vietnam War. Once he returned from war, he obtained his degree in psychology as well as attending Bible College. Harold’s love for Christ was fierce. He was a very God fearing man and he loved to teach anyone that he could about God. He enjoyed prison ministry where he could teach troubled men about the love that God had for them. He also found immense joy in preaching with his best friend at a small church in Hazel Green, Kentucky. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. His hobbies included building gaming computers, riding motorcycles in the Smokies, and collecting cast iron.
He is survived by his wife, Christy, whom he loved with his whole heart; his two children and their significant others, Austin (Sarah), and Hannah (Noah); four beautiful granddaughters; Kaley, Sarah, Gabby and Jessi; a special sister and her husband, Linda Hargrove(Mike), three other sisters, and his best friend and brother in Christ, David Fields.
He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Thompson and his mother, Lillian Puckett Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Harold’s honor to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
