KODAK — The Tennessee Smokies and KaTom Restaurant Supply will host a new clay shooting contest in July to benefit the Pat Summitt Foundation.
Teams and individuals can start signing up now to take part in the “Clay Clash,” which will start at 9:30 a.m. on July 11 at Iron Mountain Sporting Clays in Kodak.
The registration fee is $600 for a team of four, including a cart rental, or $150 for an individual.
Participants can bring their own gun and ammunition, or rent a gun and buy ammo on site.
“We’re really excited about it,” said Morgan Vance, director of advancement for the foundation.
The Smokies have always supported the foundation, Vance said.
“We have a great relationship with the Smokies,” she said. “They have been a wonderful partner for years.”
The Smokies are looking to make the tournament an annual event, said Morgan Messick, director of outside events for the the team.
“I think the Clay Clash is going to be a great addition to the list of events we have every year,” Messick said.
“This is so different from anything we’ve done in the past, and I’m excited to be a part of it!”
The Pat Summitt Foundation, a fund of East Tennessee Foundation, was established by Pat and Tyler Summitt in November 2011.
Its mission is to advance research for treatment and a cure, provide care and support for patients and caregivers, and educate the public about Alzheimer’s disease.
