SEYMOUR — Sevier County deputies are still investigating the events that led to a fatal shooting in a home on Boyds Creek Highway Wednesday night.

Officers were dispatched to a call about a possible shooting about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and went to a home in the 2200 block of Boyds Creek Highway, Sheriff Ron Seals said.

They arrived to find 30-year-old Chase Edward Turner with a gunshot wound.

EMTs took Turner to UT Medical Center, but he later died as a result of his wounds.

Seals said that officers detained a 16-year-old male at the scene and were questioning him about the incident Wednesday night.

They will present evidence to the district attorney general’s office, which will decide whether any charges will be filed in relation to the incident, Seals said.

Little additional information on the incident was available Thursday. There are only a few homes on the 2200 block of Boyds Creek Highway, which is near J’s Market.
