KODAK — A family dog killed a 6-month-old child Sunday evening, attacking another person before police killed the dog when it acted aggressively toward emergency responders, Sheriff Ron seals said.

Sevier County 911 dispatchers received a call at 6:15 p.m. Sunday about an infant who was not breathing due to a dog attack on Apache Lane, off Allensville Road.

“Emergency responders arrived on the scene and found the infant deceased and an occupant of the home injured from trying to protect the child during the attack,” Seals said.

“The large dog became aggressive toward emergency responders and was put down at the scene.”

A press release issued by Seals Monday didn’t name the family involved or specify the breed of the dog.

No charges have been filed in the case, and the sheriff’s office is investigating the incident.
