Batteries Plus

Robert Roskowski and wife Kristen are opening Batteries Plus at 207 Forks of the River Parkway next month.

A former U.S. Marine is a new Sevierville businessman, bringing Batteries Plus, the nation’s largest and fastest-growing battery, lightbulb, key fob and phone repair franchise to 207 Forks of the River Parkway. The store opens Dec. 6.

“I saw the essential service Batteries Plus provides and wanted to bring it to Sevierville,” said franchise owner Robert Roskowski. “I’m excited to contribute to a community that means so much to me; the past six years here made it truly feel like home. It felt like the right time for me to help the people of Sevierville in a new way.”

His time in the Marines prepared him for taking a leadership role.

“I think it gives you the skills to lead even at a small level like this with only five or six employees,” he said.

Roskowski spent eight years in the Marine Corps serving in Afghanistan. He earned a Purple Heart for his time overseas and is now a part of the Wounded Warriors Project.

Roskowski did two enlistments. He was in Afghanistan in 2011 when he suffered the injuries that earned him his Purple Heart.

“While I was on foot patrol one of my guys stepped on an IED and lost both his legs and six fingers. I injured my back and suffered a traumatic brain injury,” Roskowski said.

He later was sent as a recruiter to Chattanooga before medically retiring from the Marines. He came to Sevier County after being hired as a Pigeon Forge police officer.

Batteries Plus Sevierville will provide residents with services for their automotive needs, such as free car battery testing and installations on most vehicles, and help keep their cell phone, key fob, laptop, and tablet batteries lasting longer and more efficiently.

Each staff member has experience working with top brands and operating systems to give the best inspection for a device, including phone repair for broken and cracked screens. Also offering a range of products, such as automotive batteries (ATV, snowmobile, motorcycle, car, marine, and golf cart), chargers, cell phone batteries, phone essentials, SLA batteries, alkaline batteries, and generators.

They will have two spots at curbside to help customers with pickups and their battery needs.

To celebrate the opening of the new store, Batteries Plus will be hosting a grand opening event on Jan. 6.

It’s a true family affair. Roskowski is operating the store with wife Kristen and uncle Wayne Patterson, his assistant manager.

Roskowski and Kristen are high school sweethearts with son Kolten and daughters Raelyn and Riley. The couple believe they’ll make a great team as they serve Sevier County.

Roskowski said he was inspired to look into a franchise after looking for a battery for a golf cart he purchased from another police officer. He was impressed with the store he visited in Knoxville.

“Batteries Plus is great. It is an extended family. They are all supportive,” Roskowski said.

Founded in 1988 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Batteries Plus has become the nation’s largest and fastest-growing battery, light bulb and smartphone/tablet repair company.
