Free child car safety seat inspections set

SEVIERVILLE — The Sevierville Police Department is conducting a free child car safety seat inspection event Monday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. — 12 p.m. at El Primo Mexican Restaurant, 725 Parkway.

A certified SPD technician will perform the free safety check and answer any questions you may have. The City of Sevierville is committed to helping parents and caregivers make sure their children ride as safely as possible — every trip, every time.

Smoky Mountain Flywheelers Tractor and Engine Show starts Aug. 5

SEVIERVILLE — The fourth annual Smoky Mountain Flywheelers Tractor and Engine Show kicks of Aug. 5 at 329 River Place, Sevierville.

The event is Aug. 5-7 and features arts and crafts, swap meet, food vendors, music, tractors, engines, lawn and garden tractors and more. . Gates open at 8 a.m. and the event lasts until dark each night.

Medic blood drives aim to help Smokies beat Lookouts

SEVIERVILLE — MEDIC Regional Blood Center and Blood Assurance are teaming up to increase red blood cell collections in a friendly competition next week.

The blood center collecting the most will be declared the winner and win a trophy.

All MEDIC donors will receive a ticket to a Smokies game.

Upcoming events include a blood drive Wednesday, July 28, at Dairy Queen Grill & Chill, 10724 Chapman Hwy. from 1 to 7 p.m. Donors will receive a free ice cream or ice cream cone.

Another drive is Thursday, July 29, from noon to 6 p.m. at Kodak United Methodist Church’s gym.
