Sevierville celebrates Arbor Day on Friday

SEVIERVILLE — The city will host Arbor Day and Tree City USA celebrations at noon on Friday at the Municipal Campus at the corner of Dolly Parton Parkway and Gary Wade Boulevard.

Registration is required at 865-868-1895 or kvolentine@seviervilletn.org. Portions of the event will recognize tree memorials, and staffers with the Sevier County Electric System will plant a tree in memory of Sevier County residents who have passed away from COVID-19.

In case of rain, the ceremonies will be held inside the Sevierville Civic Center, 200 Gary Wade Boulevard. Arbor Day is April 30.

Friday meeting is for election commission reorganization

SEVIERVILLE — On Friday at 1 p.m., the Sevier County Election Commission will meet to reorganize.

School staffers have until Friday to complete state survey

NASHVILLE — Teachers and staffers have until Friday to complete the 10th annual Tennessee Educator Survey.

The survey is provided by the Tennessee Department of Education and Vanderbilt University's Tennessee Education Research Alliance for school personnel to "share their perspectives and expertise on education issues affecting their classrooms and schools, and regarding the unique circumstances presented by COVID-19, to inform strategies and goals at the state, district, and local school levels."

The survey's 2020 participation rate was 51%, with approximately 37,000 educators statewide completing the confidential survey. Results will be made public for districts and schools with at least a 45% participation rate. Information is available at
