SEVIERVILLE — A Sevier County man was sentenced to 80 years in prison for the rape of an 11-year-old child in Sevier County Circuit Court on Nov. 16, according to a release from District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn.
The release said Grover Beverly was sentenced following a trial presided over by Sevier County Circuit Court Judge James L. Gass on Sept. 9. A jury returned guilty verdicts against Beverly on two counts of child rape.
The 80-year sentence is to be served at 100% and does not allow the possibility of parole.
Beverly was arrested in mid-August 2019 following an investigation by the Pigeon Forge Police Department.
Assistant District Attorney Rolfe A. Straussfogel prosecuted the case with help from assistant victim witness coordinator Stevie Ogle.
Pigeon Forge Detective Mark Vance investigated the case with help from Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center.
