SEVIERVILLE — A local man is facing felony charges after he allegedly attacked his wife and kept her in their apartment, forcing her to tell family she was all right.

Jonathan Lee Cook, 39, of Sevierville, was being held at the Sevier County Jail Wednesday on charges of kidnapping, aggravated domestic assault, and interference with emergency calls.

Sevier County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to their apartment Saturday afternoon on a report of a domestic assault.

Deputies reported that Cook’s wife told them he had pushed her and choked her to the point she almost lost consciousness.

“She states that he held her against her will and forced her to call her place of work and state she was sick,” according to the warrant. “She was also forced to call family members and tell them she was ok.”

She told officers at some point Cook broke her cell phone so she couldn’t call for help, reports said.

Deputies arrested Cook Tuesday evening. He remained at the jail Wednesday with a bond set at $50,000.
