SEVIERVILLE — Sevier County’s total number of active cases of COVID-19 barely changed over the weekend, rising just 3% over two days.

The Tennessee Department of Health had not released the numbers for Monday at press time.

The active cases rose by 20, reaching 681 after falling to 661 Friday.

The state reported two new deaths related to the virus among Sevier County residents over the weekend, and one new hospitalization.

There were 123 new positive tests reported out of a total of 693 results, for a positivity rate of 17.7%.

The Sevier County School System reported 33 active cases among students Monday, and five active cases among staff throughout the school system.

There were 293 students quarantined Monday, along with 19 staff.
