Spring classes start today at Walters State
SEVIERVILLE — The spring semester begins today at Walters State Community College.

New Tanger restaurant will host grand opening today
SEVIERVILLE — As part of its grand opening today, Squisito Too will offer a free slice of cheese pizza to the first 100 diners.
Doors open at 11 a.m. The new restaurant, which is part of a chain based in Maryland, is located in Sevierville’s Tanger Outlets, 1645 Parkway, Suite 295.
It is one of four locations planned by franchisees Joey and Missy Messick, who operate two Krispy Kreme stores in Sevier County.

Nationwide COVID-19 memorial is tonight
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A nationwide memorial honoring the more than 401,000 Americans who have died due to the COVID-19 pandemic begins at 5:30 p.m. today. The event is organized by the office of President-Elect Joe Biden.
Community members are encouraged to light a candle and place it in their window, and cities nationwide are asked to ring bells in remembrance. The Empire State Building will return to its “red heartbeat lighting,” which begins at 5:30 p.m. today and continues until 2 a.m. Wednesday.
A 5:30 p.m. ceremony at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will feature special lighting.
