Commodities Distribution
East Tennessee Human Resource Agency will distribute commodities, 8 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Wartburg Civic Center. Individuals may pick up for three households only. Please bring a box for commodities. Households can pre-register prior to the distribution date at the ETHRA office located next to Wartburg High School. For more information call 423-346-6651, option 5.
MCSWCD Meeting
The Morgan County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. at the MCSWCD building, located at 1141 Knoxville Hwy. in Wartburg.

Craft and Retail Holiday Fair
Deer Lodge Abner Ross Memorial Center Craft and Retail Holiday Fair, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Join us for a day of shopping and support our local craft people and retailers. 10x10 ft spaces with one table each are $10 and can be reserved by calling 423-965-4142. Concession stand will be open.
American Legion Breakfast
Santa Claus will be available for pictures at the American Legion Post #149’s monthly breakfast in Wartburg on Saturday, Dec. 10 from 9-11 a.m. The Legion will accept one new unwrapped top of $10 or more per person for one free meal and a free picture with Santa with every adult meal purchased. An assortment of breakfast foods will be available from pancakes to made to order omelets. The cost is $9 for adults, $4.50 for children under 12 or $9.50 per to go box. Breakfast hours are from 8-11 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesday, Dec. 14
Morgan Scott Gift Giving
Morgan Scott Project, Operation Sharing, Storehouse Ministries, and Unicorn Fund are coming together to provide Christmas gifts to those in need in Morgan County. There will be three different locations and days to try and accommodate everyone. Call Morgan Scott Project at 423-965-3131 through Dec.14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. to fill out an application.
County Finance Committee Meeting
The Morgan County Finance Committee will meet Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room on the third floor of the Morgan County Courthouse.
Liberty Baptist Children’s Christmas Play
The Liberty Baptist Church Children’s Department will present the play “’Twas the Night Before” by Tracy Wells on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. under direction of Sheila Hensley, Jack and Nancy young. Join us and enjoy the evening.

The American Legion Post #149 in Wartburg will hold its monthly meeting for Legion members and on Thursday, Dec. 15 promptly at 7 p.m.

Cash Express Coat/Toy Drive
Cash Express is sponsoring its 18th Annual Coat and Toy Drive for the Children. Toys, coats, shoes (washable), clothing and non-perishable food items may be dropped off in many locations in the area. All donations must be received by Dec. 16 in order for them to be delivered by Christmas. Schools are asked to help and will be awarded a Pizza Party to the class in each grade that collects the most. The principal decides the winning class.
Sunbright First Baptist Drive Thru
On Friday and Saturday, Dec. 16-17, Sunbright First Baptist Church will host a drive thru of “A Jesus Journey” from 6:30-9 p.m. each night. The drive thru and hot chocolate are free. Everyone is welcome.

Sunbright Church of God of Prophecy Christmas Service
A Special Christmas Service and Dinner will be held at Sunbright Church of God of Prophecy on Sunday, Dec. 18 beginning at 10 a.m. Diner will follow the service. The church is located approximately one and a half miles south of Sunbright. Everyone is welcome. Pastor Terry Potter and congregation give you a special invitation. Liberty Baptist Christmas Musical
The Liberty Baptist Church Choir will present their Christmas Musical “The Miracle of Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. under the direction of Christopher Giles, Worship Leader. Everone is welcome to come and join in to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

American Legion New Year’s Gala
The American Legion Post #149’s New Year’s Gala will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31. A limited amount of tickets are available to purchase. Prices are $50 per single ticket and $90 per couple. Menu items are either prime rib or chicken with many assorted sides and desserts. Also, included is live music by John Overton’s classic country.
