Semi-automatic weapon ban is needed
Dear Editor:
It seems as though every day the news is reporting another mass shooting.
There have been 80-plus mass shootings in 2023 and we’re only two months into the new year. Since Columbine, there have been 366 school shootings.
I believe the country has become immune to hearing these horrifying statistics. They want to ban books and African American history, but not high powered guns of mass destruction.
When will our lawmakers wake up? Maybe when God forbid they are affected by this.
We all know this is all about money. Money talks and innocent people die. I am not asking that law abiding citizens turn in their guns. I am asking that they reinstate the ban on semi automatic assault weapons. When they were banned in 1989, shootings decreased considerably.
I implore you to reach out to your legislators so we can hopefully live in a civilized and safe country.
