Jesse Ray Bostic, 88 of Jacksboro, died Jan. 10 after a long illness.
He worked as a Merchant Marine and an ironworker, and was a member of both the Seafarers International Union and the Ironworkers Union (Local 25 of Detroit). He was a 32nd-degree Mason (Shriner) and member of the Jacksboro Lodge. He was a member of Davis Chapel Baptist Church, and attended Trinity Baptist Church in his latter years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and studied boxing during his time as a Merchant Marine. After retirement, he spent his time working on his farm, keeping a garden, beekeeping, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Louise Bostic; parents Harrison Valentine and Roxanne Sharp Bostic, sisters Eva, Ina Mae, Wanda, June and Ruth and brothers Hobart, Cecil and Teddy.
He is survived by his sons Larry Bostic and his wife Debra, Steve Bostic and his wife Linda, Wayne Bostic and Randy Bostic and wife Angela Bostic; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Dennis Bostic of LaFollette, Warren Bostic of Michigan, and sister Margaret Bostic of Caryville.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Jesse’s caregivers Betty McGhee, Frankie Nelson, Lillian Byrge and Jeri Ann King for their excellent care during Jesse’s illness.
Funeral service and Masonic service were Friday in Cross-Smith Chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Vanover and Rev. Lynn Ray officiating. Interment was in Sunrise Cemetery.
