Fastpace Health Urgent Care in Jellico saw its first patients on Dec. 6, and in a community still waiting for its hospital to reopen, many residents have expressed happiness at the new addition.
“All the people come in here and say we’re a blessing to the community pretty much,” said Skylar Hoskins, the current provider at the urgent care. “Everybody’s been really excited to have another health-care facility.”
The walk-in clinic deals with colds, flus, urinary tract infections and also provides X-rays for sprains and breaks, Hoskins said.
“Eventually, we may end up getting more specialties here like primary care or orthopedics, whatever this area demands with the numbers we start seeing, but right now just urgent care needs, basically,” Hoskins said.
The clinic also does sports physicals and pre-employment drug screening, she said.
“Most people seem really pleased to have another urgent care in the area, especially with not having any emergency room locally or if their primary care is full for the day, it gives them the opportunity of not having to drive to LaFollette or some other locations for urgent care stuff or same-day needs,” Hoskins said.
Located at 1390 Fifth Street, Fastpace is currently on a limited schedule, due to having just one provider, Hoskins said.
The office is open Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“A couple of the primary care offices in town have sent people over here to get X-rays because they know we have that, and that way, they don’t have to drive all the way to LaFollette if their insurance covers here and that type of thing,” she said.
Once Fastpace gets a second provider, hours will extend to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, she said.
