SEVIERVILLE — The newest business to locate at what was once McCroskey’s Barber Shop is continuing that old-school barber shop feel.

The Man Cave Barbershop is now open at the location at 243 West Main St., Sevierville. They are having an open house today, Saturday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Owner Mary Holliday said she wanted to honor Dallas McCroskey’s history as a barber in Sevierville and give customers that same barber shop experience.

“I feel honored I get to carry on the tradition. So many of our clients, Dallas gave them their first haircut,” Holliday said.

She has items honoring McCroskey on display for those who remember the friendly barber, who cut hair for more than 65 years.

Holliday said they get walk-ins who are not aware Dallas McCroskey passed away on Christmas Eve 2020. She and her staff have had to give the bad news of his death to some of his old clients.

The Man Cave is a dual-licensed shop, meaning in addition to a barber shop they can cut and style women’s hair, too.

“Our shop is licensed for cosmetology and barber,” Holliday said.

She is joined by Mindy Vittetoe and master barber Dennis Newman.

“All three of us have that desire to have the old school, old-time barber shop experience but with a little bit modern tools and modern edge,” Holliday said.
