CNB's Comer named chairman of Better Business Bureau board

Michael G. Comer has been elected as chairman of the board of the Better Business Bureau of Greater East Tennessee.

This election was held by the general membership during the recent annual meeting. Comer is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Citizens National Bank, headquartered in Sevierville.

“The Better Business Bureau is founded on trust, which is the basis of all business," he said. "The BBB strives to catch business and people that are doing things right, as opposed to focusing on problems. An organization that displays our logo and is a member in good standing means they have experience providing good service and value.”

Jerry Tipton, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau of Greater East Tennessee, said, “The role of our local volunteer Board of Directors is vital. They hold the professional team accountable to the high standards of the national Better Business Bureau. At the same time, the board ensures local operations grow while continuing in a financially satisfactory manner.”

Tipton said he and the board are "pleased Mike has accepted the challenge to lead our organization for the next year. We have exciting plans.”

BBB sets and upholds standards for ethical marketplace behavior. Its accreditation is earned by businesses and charities. BBB is a resource for information on businesses and charities. The free business reviews and Wise Giving reports help consumers make purchasing or donation decisions. 

The Better Business Bureau consists of 114 local organizations that serve communities across the U.S. and Canada, evaluating and monitoring more than 3 million local and national businesses and charities.
