Letter: Seymour teacher’s death to be big loss for community
There are so many news stories today about teachers who have abused the privilege they have been given to work with young children and youth. Perhaps there is even a declining respect for a profession once so highly esteemed.
However, there are still torchbearers — persons who teach with such dedication and compassion that others observe and envy the pure joy that comes with influencing young minds in a very positive way.
The Seymour community lost one of those torchbearers this last week with the passing of Linda Magouirk, a recent retiree from Seymour Primary School. Linda was loved by many students throughout the years and cherished by her co-workers and friends. She always had a pleasant demeanor, a sense of humor, and the highest standard of professionalism.
I know that I speak for many when I say how much Linda will be missed. Many prayers will be raised for the Magouirk family during this time of loss.
