CP--I know little of the Health Care fiasco except that we rank 50th or so in the world which is unacceptable. A real obstacle for this country is frivolous law suits which hike insurance rates.

Another Bush that left office in 1992 saddling this country in a bad recession lead to the Dem's diverting our attention from problem solving with the onslaught of "gays in the military". To me, it's health care now diverting our time from real economic problems in this country.

Did you ever research the ships bombed at Pearl Harbor? They were all WWI vintage ships--out of date. All the other ships worth saving were coincidentally ordered out of the harbor just prior to the attack.

Oswald was tailed by the FBI/CIA for years. They knew he was in Dallas. They would have known he mail ordered for a rifle. The Dallas police allowed a guy named Ruby to enter the police station that day without frisking anyone for weapons even though reporters talked constantly about security for Oswald.

And the Ft Hood Muslim in the US military with e-mails to the Middle East despot? The FBI trailed this guy for a year. They knew, but they allowed this to happen. Maybe they needed this event to shut down Mosques in the US.

And maybe the stock market crash was monitored to allow the rich to get more space between them and us. Anyone pursueing the 53,000 Swiss accounts where hundreds of billions of your retirement funds rest? The US Marshalls were there...to pick up Polanski.

The problem with all this is that we're being manipulated as a society, and therefore can be set up individually. Our freedoms are at risk. This country needs a viable Third Party soon!

I thank more than Bush for no further post 911 attacks( if you don't count Ft. Hood). I thank the American people first and foremost. I thank all those in law enforcement and anyone else who didn't have their heads up their azz and became aware of what had begun to happen. Just because 911 happened on Bush's watch does not mean it was his fault. I guess that you believe that jackie chan was the reason for Hiroshima. First of all Dick, there is a lot of blame to go around. Let me name a few: CIA, FBI, Congress, The White House, The Atty Generals Office, The Military Command overseeing these type of issues, base commanders and ordinary servicemembers who actually served beside the man for such a long time. Since 9-11 we have also had the Patriot act that had a primary function of seeing to it that a 9-11 event never happened again. This act has had some good aspects and a whole bunch of crap that did nothing but infringe on the rights of God fearing loyal citizens of this country. To blame the Democrats( as much as I dislike their philosophy) would be narrow minded and just plain wrong .First let me remind you that I am an honorably discharged vietnam era vet who voted republican because I did not trust an unexperienced politician from chicago where I lived for 3 years and saw CLOSE hand the corruption and vice that city is made up of. From the Aldermen to the local city mayors, from the chicago mayor to the local senators, I can tell you stories that would infuriate you to no end. Crooks, liars, thieves and murderers ran that city for the few years that I was there and friends of mine who still live there say it hasn't changed a bit. Dick is right that we have had no terrorist attacks on american soil since 9-11 "THAT WE KNOW OF" What about the DC sniper? How much do you really know about him? What about the numerous alleged terrrorist plots that has been foiled by Homeland security or the FBI or border patrol sinde 9-11? Terrorism is here to stay!!! What happened at Ft. Hood Texas is unexcusable!!!PERIOD!!! The FBI, base commanders and brothers in arms "ALL" knew there was something wrong with this guy. It started in the Bush administration and ended during obamas reign almost 11 months into his term. Who is to blame? I know I am going to be called a racist or something just as bad but i dont give a sh-t! Almost every act of violence that cannot be attributed to those who belong to the Mexican drug bunch has been Arabs. I know, McVeigh was a respected white boy at some point but inside was a murderer non the less. This country has always had it's share of wackos and perverts who deserve to be hung by the neck until dead. Something happened though that changed the world scene. Radical muslims began to kill people from all walks of life in the name of thier religion. Islam is a religion of hate!!! The reasons they gave for what they did does not matter, They have been taught to hate non-muslims.

Then again their are muslims who have embraced our way of life and are productive members of our society( or so we have been led to believe) Major Hasan is a perfect example. ANY muslin american?????who says they are muslim first and american second should be watched very closely. We have so many muslims, including their converts which happen to be mostly black, are a potential danger to us all. One word from an overseas source could turn this country into turmoil! Where are those men and women who are supposed to protect us from such a DOMESTIC or foriegn enemy? Oversees fighting enemies they cant see led by a madman they cant find. Our biggest problem are those elected officials who are so busy with their own greed and corruption that they are missing whats really happening to our country. My God, close down our southern borders so that our economy doesn't collapse and I'll bet you keep a whole lot of very dangerous people out of our homeland as well. Make people do things legally if they want to come here or kick the whole lot of them out. IT"S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!!! Next, racial profiling? oh no not that! I have watched every news channel on tv and they all have an agenda. Let me suggest Fox news. Listen, really listen to the facts that are constantly being backed up with all the evidence of a grand jury hearing and then some. You can blast Fox, or me for listening to them but I will debate you or anyone else who so desires any time, any where. Dear Dick, I can agree with everything you wrote, down until the point where you pointed your finger at "Democrats". I am having trouble connecting 72 million people with this incident. That number doesn't count republicans, or independants, only Registered democrats, in 2004.

So explain to us how it is the responsibility of democrats. According to what I have found, his attitude began to shift in 2004. He may have felt the growing anti-Muslim sentiment and resented it. For the next five years nothing was done to avert this tragedy. In 2008 our intelligence officials intercepted correspondence between him and a known terrorist, and nothing was done.

Major Hasan made an adult decision and now must face the consequences. What can we do to prevent this from happening again? It might help if we hold those who had the information about his radicalism responsible for sitting on their hands and allowing it. Five years seems like enough time to figure this out, don't you think?

In 2000, the US had a surplus and was undisputed #1 superpower.
