After last season’s state runner-up finish, the Pigeon Forge Tigers started the 2012 campaign with an impressive 4th place showing at the 19th annual Falcon Frenzy Wrestling Invitational at West Henderson High School.

The meet, which the Tigers annually attend, featured 29 teams and approximately 600 wrestlers.

“This is always a good, good early season tournament to see where you are as a team compared to others at this time,” PFHS head coach Greg Foreman said.

“This is also a good measuring stick for the individuals to self-assess what they need to improve upon in the practice room.”

Three Tigers wrestlers earned runner-up finishes in their respective weight classes, as Caleb Poole, Nate Croley and Joseph Dodgen all took second-place honors.

Trevor Reed (4th), Nick Hilley (5th) and Spencer Davis (6th) also had nice showings at the Frenzy.

“Overall though, I’m very pleased of how the guys did both (in) varsity and JV this early in the season,” Foreman said.

In the JV portion of the tournament Xavier Bohanan, Cameron Washom, Isaac Frye, Gary Reagan, Josh Croley, Matthew Kieta and Colton Bryan all earned first-place wins, while Jacob Ruiter, Sean Underwood and Elias Bond took second-place finishes.

The Tigers will have a home dual match today against Jefferson County and Grace Christian at 6 p.m.
