SCHS swimmers out-pace Anderson County
Sevier County High School’s swim team splashed over Anderson County by the final score of 158-25 in a recent meet.
In the women’s events, senior Sarah Bryan finished first in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle, while teammate Natalie Burnett, also a senior, clinched the 200 free and 100 butterfly.
Freshman Chandler Horne took first in the 50 free and 100 back. Sophomore Leah Rollins finished first in the 500 free and swam to second in the 100 breast, and fellow sophomore McKensie Martin placed fourth in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.
Rounding out the sophomore ladies’ action, Morgan Walker took third in the 100 back and placed fourth in the 200 IM. The women’s relay teams finished first in the 200 medley and the 400 free and swam to second in the 200 free. In the boys competition, freshman Sterling Burnett finished first in the 50 free and the 100 breast, with freshman teammate Matthew McFalls sweeping the 200 free and 100 fly.
Freshman Grant Rollins added points by taking first in the 200 IM and 100 back.
Fellow freshman Bob Parton finished first in the 500 free and placed fifth in the 100 breast. Sophomore Chase Shaffer also finished first in the 100 free and swam to second in the 200 IM.
The boys teams swept all the relay events including the 200 medley, the 200 free, and the 400 free. The boys also fielded an additional team in the 200 medley which swam to second place. In middle school action, the Sevier County Middle School swim team was bested by the Anderson County Middle School swim team.
Notable swims for the local girls were from Ali Schleif, 12, finishing first in the 50 back and fifth in the 50 free and Grace Herbert, 12, swimming to second in the 50 back.
Representing the boys, Samuel Knight, 12, took first in the 100 IM and 50 breast, and Brady Cusick, 11, finished first in the 50 back and swam to second in the 100 IM.
Mason Fox, 14, took first in the 50 fly and placed fourth in the 50 free, while teammate Dylan Bortolon, 11, finished first in the 50 back. Savador Ramirez, 12, swam to second in the 50 breast and placed fourth in the 100 back, and Sean Moore, 13, added points by placing third in the 50 back. The Sevier County High School and Middle School Swim Teams next take on Lenior City at home in the Blalock Natatorium on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 6:30pm.
