Citizens National has been a valued member of community over four decades

To succeed in business for four decades is a remarkable achievement, considering that statistics from the Small Business Administration indicate two out of three new start-ups don’t make it past the second year. Not only has Citizens National Bank made it to 40 years, it has prospered and thrived, with more than $800 million on assets and a sterling reputation among those who evaluate and examine banks.

“We are very excited to be celebrating 40 years at CNB,” Jodi Ramsey, marketing director of CNB, said in a package of stories prepared by reporter Robbie Hargett for Sunday’s paper. “The entire month of February is filled with celebrations, giveaways and rewards for our customers, employees and the community as a way of saying thanks for many years of dedication and loyalty.”

The bank has grown to 18 branches in three counties, including locations in most of the supermarkets. It remains locally owned and operated, a community bank dedicated to Sevier County area customers and businesses. Its employees take part in a variety of local causes, from Relay For Life to supporting local schools.

You don’t have a record of achievement like that unless you have good people and a good game plan. David Verble, president and CEO of the bank and an employee since 1979, can remember the early days when the bank struggled to survive. When he joined CNB 34 years ago it had assets of $20 million.

These days he presides over an institution that has changed in so many ways, keeping up with local commitments while not falling behind in technological advances that have revolutionized banking. From handling your accounts online to operating ATMs all over, Citizens National has remained on the cutting edge of every advancement in the industry while never losing its hometown touch.

As CNB celebrates its 40th anniversary, it can look over its history with pride, knowing it has made a major impact on this community while providing hundreds of jobs to people and paying its corporate rent in a variety of ways. Congratulations, Citizens National Bank, on your anniversary.
