Letter: Food ministry says thanks for supporting fundraiser
Sevier County Food Ministries wants to say thank you to everyone who made the fundraiser Fiesta on April 18, 2013, a great success. We realize there have been lots of fundraisers in the past two months. We only have one a year, for cash.
January, February and March are three really busy months for our ministry and it eats away our balance, as our donations are always down after the holidays.
We need one good fundraiser to keep us on our feet or to purchase much-needed items that we do not have any extra money for.
One item we will purchase is a screen so when our director, Jim Davis, comes to your church, business or club to do a PowerPoint presentation, you will know more about what we do and where your donations are used.
Everyone we asked was very generous with donations for silent auction items, purchasing tickets or giving a donation. We are very gateful for all these people.
We especially want to thank Ripley’s for donating the wonderful door prize, also picking up all the silent auction items and putting them on display. The food was great and touring the aquarium was a real treat. The employees of Ripley’s went above and beyond the call of duty to lend us a helping hand.
If you did not attend you missed a great evening of fun, food and fellowship. Sevier County Food Ministries does not want anyone to go hungry. We are here to give our neighbors a hand up, not a hand-out.
The postal drive will be our next project. The date for this is Saurday, May 13. Leave food items at the mailbox that morning for postal carriers to pick up.
Thank you, and God bless.
