Letter: Traffic signals on Parkway much in need of attention

As we approach another tourist season, I hope and pray someone will get the ball rolling to fix the traffic signals on the Parkway. A little bad weather and a small spring break crowd created a miles-long traffic jam on Tuesday, March 26.

For cities that spend millions to lure and entertain visitors, our traffic signal integration is absurd. A few years ago, an attempt was made to sequence the lights and it worked for a while (except for the light where the cities meet). Since then, we have added another light, and my patience wears thin at catching every other light many days.

If the benefits of gas savings, time savings, and less frustration for visitors and locals alike were calculated, this would be one of the most cost-effective measures the cities could enact.

Please, let’s raise the profile of this issue so we can improve the driving experience for everyone. In the meantime, I’ll see you on Veterans Boulevard.
