Cruise Against Cancer supporters receive thanks
Celebrate Life would like to publicly thank everyone who helped make our fifth annual “Cruise Against Cancer” a tremendous success. There would not be a “Cruise” if it weren’t for Nathan Manning and the Hard Times Street Rod Club they are angels sent from God to Celebrate Life. You are wonderful people with big hearts.
There is no way that we can ever thank the Newport Sagebrush Steakhouse and employees enough for their gracious outreach to us. They were there on that rainy Saturday helping us all they possibly could while serving the public at the same time. You people are absolutely amazing. God bless all of you.
I promised God 16 years ago that I would help people in the future that would be fighting with cancer just as I was then. I had no idea where that promise would take me, but I was willing to go anyway. Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group was formed in 1999 and has been going strong ever since, not due to me but to you, all of you who also want to help cancer patients “fight the good fight,” as St. Paul says in the Acts of the Apostles.
This is not a “one-woman thing,” it is a community thing. What a loving, caring, generous community you are. I still cannot believe that the men and women who brought their antique cars let them sit out in the rain for us; which proves to me that you are people who are about people not things.
Our sponsors: Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, University Cancer
Specialists, Newport Bargain Barn, Strange’s Custom Auto with a special thanks to Tim Strange, and Morristown Regional Cancer Center.
We would also like to thank all the newspapers that promoted the “Cruise”: Newport Plain Talk, Sevierville Mountain Press, Standard Banner of Jefferson City and Morristown Tribune. Radio stations: WNPC and all the staff, especially Nathan Manning, who are absolutely phenomenal to us and our cause; Home Radio and Tony Cox.
A special thanks to WBIR and their Fox network affiliate, Allison Bybee, Evan Johnson, Joe Baker and Brian Barger their coverage of our event was more than we ever expected. Thanks to Jeff Cody, Rocky Top Grafix for making the T-shirts that everyone loved.
