Letter: We are witnessing demise of this once great country

In response to the recent letter about flying “Old Glory” at half-staff as the result of the last election, I certainly understand. Regretably, I now believe our country has ceased to be the America I love, as millions of people have turned away from liberty and freedom.

Sadly, we had one last chance to turn back from the abyss on Nov. 6, 2012. However, the majority of the low-information voters decided they wanted a socialist style government and theocracy. “A house divided cannot stand.” Like Rush Limbaugh, I too am truly embarrassed and ashamed of what has been done to my country.

Unfortunately for all of us God fearin’, gun totin’, freedom lovin’ Americans, it looks like the uninformed masses will get what they have enthusiastically voted for and so richly deserve, as we witness the demise of our beloved homeland. “Claiming to be wise, they became fools.”

The CBO estimates that Obamacare will cost a family of four approximately $20,000 a year for health insurance and higher payroll taxes as seen after Jan. 1, 2013; we were told this would not happen. We are already seeing rising gas and food prices and looming defense cuts that will endanger us all.

This is no longer the once great country I grew up in and probably will never be again. I pray I am wrong. Their socialist liberal policies, regulations, laws and unconstitutional executive orders will all be chiseled in stone never to be reversed, overturned, or rolled back. Thank you, Justice John Roberts.

Therefore, reverently, I will take down my flag out of respect for all our active duty and fallen heroes’ supreme sacrifices and shed blood, no matter their politics. Sadly, I’ll call retreat while lowering Old Glory, never to be flown again over a country that has been occupied by socialists.

No, I won’t dishonor them or their memories. I will respectfully fold her up and neatly store in a glass case, hopefully to be flown proudly again someday. Yes, over a renewed country where we all stand together as Americans and “ask not what our country can do for us, but what we can do for our country.” (JFK)

News flash: This ship began taking on water that sad day as the captain told the band to keep playing as everything is OK. Yeah, right folks, if we don’t turn back now toward the “lighthouse” we will surely all go down; as it is just a matter of time before we hit bottom.

Sadly, like lemmings, most have blindly followed our corrupt and immoral leaders over the cliff as other prideful mighty empires before us. We should all learn from history or we are surely doomed to repeat it.

“Resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.” Wise up, America. Please, spare me the feigned liberal righteous indignation from the political correct howlers out there. I assure you, it will fall on deaf ears.
