Letter: Residents grateful for response when high winds caused damage
On Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, high winds caused a tree to fall and take down power lines which in turn started a wildfire in Shagbark Community. Without the quick response and brave actions from all concerned, our lives and home and those of several others would have been lost.
We hope we are not leaving anyone out when we say thank you so much to the volunteer fire departments of Waldens Creek, Wears Valley, Sevier County and Northview/Kodak, and the fire departments of Sevierville and Pigeon Forge as well as the Sheriff’s Department, the Sevier County Emergency Management Agency, the Tennessee Division of Forestry and the head of security at Shagbark, Mark Glassier and his staff.
We are so grateful to have so many people who selflessly risk their lives for us. We can’t thank you enough.
