Letter to the editor: American flag should be flown with pride it earned
In regard to the letter to the editor fron the man who lowered his flag to protest President Obama’s re-election, I could not believe what I was reading. Did you consider burying it when Bush put the country in such a hole we’ll never recover in this lifetime?
Never will I argue politics, but this letter went deeper than that. If — and I emphasize if — you are such an American, you had the right to vote as all Americans do. President Obama was the choice of the people.
Don’t ever say our American flag is in mourning. Men and women died for what that flag stands for. Get on your knees and thank God you live in a country that was built on Christian values. No one man, no one president, will take that and turn it into communism.
Our flag should be flown with pride, for the democracy it stands for. To honor those who died and served for it in order that all Americans will live free.
The letter writer created a sorry excuse for his grandchildren, and I hope and pray that they learn what the flag is all about. Don’t put our flag in mourning. Take it down, because if you can’t honor it, you don’t deserve it.
