Letter: Community really turned out to welcome Regen back home
I was never so proud of this area as on Friday to see all the folks who gathered on Dolly Parton Parkway to welcome Regen and his family home. What a feast for the eyes and the heart .
People were lined up everywhere, as far as the eye could see in both directions and on both sides of the road, with signs, lime-colored balloons and dressed in green. The Sevier County High School cheerleaders were there too. Businesses had their balloons.
The Rescue Squad, law enforcement and firetrucks with ladders raised in salute, were there in force also. And, it brought tears to my eyes as the ambulance slowly passed with the back door open so Regen could see it all; the balloons released as he went past. I wish The Mountain Press had done a big article on it so I could send it to out-of-state family. I have told them of it but a Press article would have been great.
Let’s all continue to support Regen and his family. Also, my donation to St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children went in the mail the next day. They let no child go untreated due to lack of funds. Keep up the big heart and good work people of Sevier County.
