Letter: Co-chair thanks Relay supporters; announces goal for next year
As co-chair of this year’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Sevier County, I would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support. 52 teams joined in this year’s Relay For Life and raised $320,000 to help save lives, and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays, by helping people stay well and get well, and by finding cures and fighting back.
150 survivors walked the opening lap at Patriot Park and inspired those currently battling cancer. And again, our luminaria ceremony showed the community’s warmth and caring for those who are no longer with us.
I would also like to thank the many Relay For Life volunteers, committee members and teams who worked so passionately to make the 2013 fundraising year a success. And we certainly want to thank our corporate sponsors for their support which made all of this possible. Together, we are again one of the top teams in all of Tennessee.
The 2014 Relay For Life year has begun and our goal is $350,000. I challenge everyone to join the fight against Cancer by joining us in the Relay, For Life.
