LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Editor:

Due to the results of the recent Presidential election, I have placed my flag at half staff. This is in mourning for the death of my beloved country, the United States of America.

When the president was re-elected for four more years, it became apparent to me that he would be able to continue, without having any fear of getting re-elected, to transform the country.

The president has stated it was his desire to transform the country. I have listened to him and researched his past associations and ideologies. It is my belief his transformation will be to a socialist/communist type of government.

I was brought up and educated to fear this type of a government. I recall how in school I was taught this was Russia’s type of government. A socialist/communist government owned everything and decided what was best for everyone. The press was part of the government so the people only knew what the government leaders wanted them to.

I ask that everyone listen to and pay close attention to the government and be aware of what is happening.

I’m not optimistic that my country will ever be able to recover from this transformation and return to the great nation it has been.

My flag will stay at half staff. I dream that someday perhaps one of my grandchildren or great-grandchildren will be able to raise it.
