Please mark your calendars and save the date of Thursday, April 18, when Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies hosts its third annual Food Ministry Fiesta to support Sevier County Food Ministries.

This is the one primary fundraiser of the year which Sevier County Food Ministries holds, and we must make it count. Our faith-based pantry serves thousands of our neighbors each week and is funded by faith and the generosity of our community of individuals, churches and businesses.

Volunteers are working hard to ensure an outstanding evening of fun, food and great entertainment for attendees of all ages. Your ticket includes admission to Ripley’s Aquarium, which is featuring its new exhibit, “Dinosaurs -When Giants Ruled.” Delicious cuisine, live music and a fantastic silent auction of dozens of items are part of the festivities. Doors are open from 6-9 p.m.

In addition, we will be giving away three wonderful door prizes, including a three-night Florida stay, a flat-screen television and a framed Jim Gray print. We’re adding a silent auction of countless items, highlighted by a beautiful red scooter, a collection of prints from local artists, an array of crafts of local artisans, jewelry, certificates for services and meals, and a variety of other items.

With the support of our community, SCFM distributes an average of 1,400 bags of groceries each week to our neighbors who are hungry. With your help and contribution, we can continue our mission to ensure no one in Sevier County lacks food.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of the Food Ministry Fiesta goes to SCFM, for which we thank Ripley’s Entertainment and the Aquarium.

This year, we hope to fund technology upgrades in our office as well as the acquisition of a truck for local pickups which is also capable of pulling our trailer to food drives. We are also in need of a projection screen for showing our video during presentations to church, business and community groups.

Tickets are $50 for one person or $75 for two people, and $10 for children age 6-11. Free parking will be available in the City of Gatlinburg’s Aquarium Parking Garage near Traffic Light 5.

If you cannot attend but would like to support Sevier County Food Ministries, we welcome your donation. Our address is P.O. Box 6042, Sevierville, TN 37864.

Remember, all proceeds benefit SCFM, and please try to attend to take part in the silent auction. We hope to see you there.
