Letter: New Jersey family enjoys trip to Sevier County
We just returned from a trip to your area, and I just had to write to tell you what a great time we had. We are from a small town in New Jersey, located just outside of Philadelphia. We were trying to find something new for our family vacation. We’ve been to Disney countless times, same for the Jersey shore. We wanted something different.
Almost by accident during an internet search, we stumbled upon Dollywood and the Smoky Mountains area. Our requirements for a successful family vacation posed quite a challenge. It had to be fun and interesting for my husband and me, and fun for three teenagers, two boys and a girl. When I read about the area, I knew right then we had found our vacation destination.
We visited Dollywood, did zip-lining (the kids did zip-lining, my husband and I are wimps), white water rafting, took the tram to Ober Gatlinburg and had fun exploring the shops and restaurants. We also saw the Guy Michaels hypnosis show and my daughter and I laughed until we nearly passed out watching my husband and our boys up on stage acting like kittens, body builders, dinosaurs, etc.
In addition to the fun, we enjoyed the scenic beauty of the mountains, and the friendly, good-natured people who made us feel quite welcome. And we loved the choice of eateries ... truly something for everyone!
I hope that someday we’ll return to the area. Until then, we’ll hang onto our memories. Thanks so much.
