Letter: Tea party chairman says thanks for fair coverage

Editor:

Mr. Voit, generally speaking, you and I are at opposite ends of the political spectrum. Yet I can say that you have always done your best to ensure your reporters and editorials were objective and honest.

When your paper wrote about the Sevier County tea party, you made sure it wasn’t done with a broad brush like other news organizations who use inflammatory or insulting depictions to describe organizations like ours. Instead, you wrote the facts, and let your readers decide for themselves.

Unlike those who use their ink to promote a political agenda and do everything they can to spin a news item to fit that agenda, you have always been true to your core beliefs; objective reporting. True reporting is a dying art, and Sevier County has been well served by you.

I and the members of the Sevier County tea party thank you for that, and we wish you all the best in your retirement.

We’ll miss you.

P.S.: You can come out of the political closet now and admit you’re really a conservative at heart.

Steve Osborn

Chairman
