Pancake festival in county would be a popular event

I am on a campaign to bring a pancake festival to our area. I think that Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have more restaurants promoting pancakes than anywhere else in this country. This is something we should be proud of; something we should celebrate.

Sometime during the month of February would be the perfect time, coinciding with Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day. While this day is celebrated across the country the largest celebration, International Pancake Festival, is held in Liberal, Kan. Liberal holds a pancake race with residents in Olney, England. Both towns send women running down the street while flipping pancakes.

Other activities include a pancake cook-off, pancake eating contest, a non-profit fund raising pancake breakfast, etc. We could include lectures, demonstrations and kids’ activities.

I have contacted the Pigeon Forge Chamber on their Facebook page and now I am contacting you and your readers. If enough people think this is a good idea maybe we can make it happen.
