Editor,

For the single working mother of Grace’s Place it was a blessing above all they could have thought of.

The Teen Board of Sevierville High School wanted to give Thanksgiving dinners to four working mothers and their children. Judy Pat Ownby called (me), president of Garlands of Grace, to ask about the needs for Grace’s Place.

She talked about the hearts of the young people who serve on the Teen Board, and (that) they had heard about the needs of the children and their mothers and they wanted to give to make Thanksgiving a special day for them

Kitty Coykendall, chairman of Grace’s Place and board member, and Sarah Ball met with the young people and received the turkeys, gift cards for Food City along with extra treats for the children.

As one mother stated — it was awesome. Far more than just food. Lovely, thoughtful gifts were included.

Once again, the hearts of our children in high school shine through. To each student who was a part of this, we give our thanks and appreciation for your kindness to mothers who work to make life better for their children. It’s going to be a wonderful a Thanksgiving for these four families.

Thank you Sevierville High School Teen Board and Coordinator Judy Ownby.
