Letter: Food ministry needs donations for thrift store

Jun. 23, 2014 @ 04:57 PM

Editor,

Sevier County Food Ministries has switch to summer gear, which means we're still busy and still helping an average of over 1,500 families in need each week with a bag of groceries.

The Food Ministry's thrift store is in serious need of items for our thrift store. We especially need men's and women's jeans and shorts as well as children's clothing. Shoes are also in short supply and a big need item.

We are asking Sevier Countians who are busy cleaning out their closets, dresser drawers and kitchen cabinets to please consider donating your gently used clothing as well as small housewares and kitchen items to our thrift store at 890 Old Knoxville Highway on the Sevier County Fairgrounds.

We are always in need of volunteers as well. If you have a few hours to give, please consider joining our ranks.

We are open four days a week - Monday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday from noon-4 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Friday from 2-6 p.m.

Every penny generated by our thrift store is used to buy more groceries. For that reason, we need your stuff.

Thanks!

Jim Davis
