Letter: Editor of paper worthy of respect
At the end of January, I submitted a rather scathing letter to the editor regarding Dale Carr.
A week before that letter, the editor, Stan Voit, wrote a column expressing his views about the 2nd Amendment, and quoted Carr as saying he favored restrictions on assault-type weapons and limiting magazine capacity. In my letter, after I wrote what Dale told me about his position, I asked that “... in the future, you leave a personal bias behind when listening to whom you interview so you can properly represent that person’s position.”
I want to take this opportunity to commend the editor for publishing that letter.
I admit that my frustration with the mischaracterization of Dale’s position tainted the tenor of the letter. Yet, your personal character traits and dedication to fairness in journalism overlooked what read like an attack, and published it. A lesser man would have never let it see the light of day, and no one would have been the wiser.
I want to take this opportunity to let your readers know that, regardless of the political spectrum we see the issues, Stan Voit is a fair man worthy of respect. I take my hat off to him.
