Letter: Creekside Plantation golf course should have been in section

Aug. 02, 2013 @ 11:10 PM

I enjoyed reading your “Welcome to Sevier County” insert in Tuesday’s paper. However, I was dismayed by an omission of a local course in your article on golf courses. I found it interesting that Wednesday’s paper had an extensive article reporting the outcome of a three-high-school competition held at Creekside Plantation.

Creekside Plantation is an outstanding golf course located in Seymour on North Shiloh Road just off Boyd’s Creek Highway. It is a 9-hole course which is very walkable and also has carts, a putting green and practice range and is the most reasonably priced course in the area. It is beautifully maintained and can be quite challenging with the many creeks and ponds.

Seymour High School and King’s Academy use the practice facilities and play their home games on this course. In addition, many tournaments are held here to support local charities.

I hope you will correct your omission and inform the tourists and residents of this local gem.

Editor’s Note: The Mountain Press regrets the omission and has taken steps to be sure Creekside is included in next year’s Welcome section.
