Gerald David “Jerry” Rickard
Myrtle Beach, SC — Gerald David “Jerry” Rickard, Sr., 67, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born January 9, 1946, in Youngstown, OH, Jerry was the son of the late Chester David and Pearl Myers Rickard. He graduated from Girard High School in 1964 where he was a drummer in the band. Jerry also attended Youngstown State University. As an avid car enthusiast, his 25 years as a dealership owner was no surprise to those around him. Jerry moved to Tennessee and South Carolina where he was an award-winning time share salesperson. He also enjoyed buying and selling real estate in the Smoky Mountain area. Over the past five years, he was able to enjoy traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, Colorado and San Francisco.
Surviving are two children, Gerald D. “Jerry” Rickard, Jr. and his companion, Carol L. Denson and her children all of McDonough, GA and Sherry R. Kish and her husband, Robert of Columbus, OH; a sister, Dianna E. Rickard of Salem, OH; a grandson, Evan Carter Rickard of McDonough, GA; Jerry’s companion, Debra James of Newport, TN with whom he made his home and a special granddog, Sophie of Columbus, OH. He will also be missed by his many friends in Ohio, Tennessee, and South Carolina.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, in the McMillan-Small Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Allan Holston officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service and light refreshments will be served following the service.
