James S. (Babe) Thurman
James S. (Babe) Thurman, age 67 of Kodak, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012. He was retired from Sevier County Electric System and was Co-Director of Sunday School Services at Beech Springs Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Eula Thurman.
Survivors: wife, Mary Alice Thurman; sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron and Melissa Thurman, Jackson and Kimberly Hurst; grandchildren, Cassie Myers, Dustin Thurman and Zach Hurst; great grandchild, Lexi Sutton; brother and sisters-in-law, Bill and Joan Thurman, Jack and Shirley Thurman; extended family members and special friends: father-in-law, Jack Rogers and wife Annice Rogers; brother-in-law and wife, Mike and Kim Rogers; nieces: Staci Clabo, Jackie Thurman, Dana Rogers; nephew, Gary Thurman; special friends, Gary and Betty Snyder and the entire Beech Springs Church family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beech Springs Baptist Church, 337 W Mount Rd., Kodak, TN 37764.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Saturday with funeral service to follow at 6 p.m. at Beech Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Brandon Cate and Rev. Richard Compton will officiate. Family and friends will meet 2 p.m. Sunday in Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens for entombment. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Snyder, Mac Gass, Paul Henderson, Johnny Hardin, Jim Galyon and Ronnie Beeman. Arrangements by Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
