William 'Glenn' Henderson
William “Glenn” Henderson, age 94 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville and a lifetime resident of Sevier County. He was retired from ALCOA after 38years of service and was a member of the ALCOA 25 year club. Glenn also farmed all of his life and was a partner in Henderson Brothers Farms. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Rigel as a storekeeper first class in the Pacific Theatre and is a 50 year member of American Legion Post #104.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Josie Bryan Henderson; daughter, Elizabeth Jo Henderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Conley and Willie Mae Henderson, Fred and Winfred Henderson, and Paul and Bonnie Henderson; brother-in-law, Rubin Reagan; father- and mother-in-law, Lawrence and Mattie Batson.
Survivors: wife of 62 years, Kern Batson Henderson; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa H. and Joe McCarter; grandchildren, Bryan and Anna McCarter and Jason and Allison McCarter; great grandchildren, Mattie Kate McCarter and Pierson McCarter; sister, Pauline Reagan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, LC and Lois Batson, Tom and Betty Batson, Condon and Essie Batson, and Emily Fox; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church, Sevierville, 317 Parkway, Sevierville, Tennessee 37862.
Funeral service 6 p.m. Wednesday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Glenn’s niece Rev. Sherri Franklin and Rev. Jerry Hyder officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Thursday in Shiloh Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post #104. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
