Beloved local resident Wanda Barker, age 66 of Sevierville, passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville and spent nearly twenty years as a teacher’s assistant at Pittman Center Elementary School.
Wanda was a loving woman known for having a kind word and an open heart for all those around her. With her strong faith and giving nature there is no doubt that she is in the arms of her Savior now, though she will be missed by those she left behind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Oda Jane Barker; her adoptive parents, Homer and Georgie Barker, sisters, Blanche Williams, Bonny June Barker, Helen Barker Allen, and Doris Crumpton; brother, David Barker; Sister-in-law, Deanna Barker
Survivors include her sons, David Crook and wife Cheri, Jonathan Crook and wife Laura; brothers, Richard Barker, Jr., Paul Barker and wife Eva, Bob Barker and wife Ronnie; sisters, Betty Jo Thomas, Mary Ruth Proffitt, Sharon Stoffle and husband Jerry; a host of special nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Noah and Sydney Crook.
Funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, January 28th in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Loveday officiating. Internment at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barker Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-6:30 p.m. Monday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
