Richard A. Pentecost Sr.
Richard A. Pentecost Sr. passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012. He was 77 years old and a member of First Baptist Church Sevierville, Tennessee. He was a special person, a man of many talents, wonderful husband, and great father. He was born in Kentucky and lived most of his young life in Pontiac, Michigan. After high school he joined the Navy and served as a corpsman on the ship U.S.S. Roberts. Everyone called him "Doc" and many do to this day.
After his time in the Navy he moved to Florida where he was Lt. Chaplin of a large jail in Bradenton, Florida. Part of his job included flying prisoners to various locations in the state. Richard was also involved in Hospice, where he served as Administrator for several years. In 1982, he and his family moved to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, where he built and owned Gatlinburg's Little Log Wedding Chapel. After retiring he enjoyed fishing and swimming on his 42 ft. boat. He loved the mountains and hanging out with his large family. I think his most favorite thing was ice cream.
Richard is survived by his wife Judy of 33 years. He is also survived by his children, Richard A. Pentecost Jr. wife Kris, and Patricia Berger and husband Ed. Berger; stepchildren ,Lisa Lynn Garner, friend Clifford Russell, Scott Richard Holman, wife Christy, and Kimberly Pride Garner, husband Lt. Ken Garner. Great grandchildren are Addison, Adrianna Rose, Kinley and Ashley. Brother Robert and wife, and nephew Jared and wife. He is also survived by a very special cousin, Fred Skipworth.
His spirit will always be with us!
