Larry Wilford Dollar
Larry Wilford Dollar passed to his eternal rest on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Larry will be missed by a host of friends and family who knew him for his generous spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. He worked for many years as a car sales representative at Morristown Ford in Morristown and at McNeely-Whaley Ford in Sevierville. In his retirement, his great enthusiasm was to work at the Morristown-Hamblen Airport with his friend and mentor, the late Evelyn Bryan. His hobbies included ham radio operation with contacts around the world and working with his friend, Wayne Litz in relieving the suffering of fellow cancer victims.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Plyler Dollar and Wilford “Buck” dollar and step mother Ada Cate Dollar. His late sister-in-law, Stella Ray dollar was of great support and encouragement to Larry in the many years of his cancer battle.
He is survived by his brother, Wayne H. Dollar of Morristown; and his sister, Brenda D. Caradine (Sidney) of Columbus, Mississippi; his nieces, Rachel Elaine Dollar, of Morristown, Elizabeth Plyler Wood (Wheeler) of Richmond, VA; and his nephew, David Aaron Dollar (Carla) and their children, Taylor, Emily, Shelby, Landon, and Mattie. Special friends include Charles Cluck, David Long and caregivers at Lakeway Hospital who went the second mile are Dr. Dennis Klein and P.A. Kimberly Setser.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be at Mayes Family Services, West Chapel on November 9, 2012, at 7 p.m. with Pastor Greg Grant the family will receive friends 5-7 prior to the service. He will be interned on Saturday, November 10, 2012, with a graveside service in Strawberry Plains, TN at the Thorn Grove Cemetery next to his parents at 10 a.m.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Larry’s name to the local American Cancer Society or to First Christian Church of Morristown 155 Parker Rd. Morristown, TN 37813.
